Show up. Make a neighborhood.

Greenwood runs on the time of more than 300 volunteers a year. Coach a youth team, drive seniors to appointments, help at events, or tutor afterschool — there's a job to fit any schedule.

Where we need help

We try to match volunteers to opportunities they actually enjoy. Our intake coordinator will get on a 15-minute call with you, ask about your schedule and interests, and pair you with one of our 22 active volunteer roles.

Most roles ask for 2–4 hours a week or an occasional weekend day. Background checks (paid for by Greenwood) are required for any role with kids or seniors.

  • Youth sports coach — soccer, basketball, t-ball — Saturday mornings
  • Afterschool tutor — Mon–Thu 3:30 – 5:30 PM, ages 6 – 14
  • Senior transportation driver — flexible weekday hours
  • Event volunteer — festivals, 5Ks, holiday parties, no commitment
  • Front desk greeter — 4-hour weekly shifts
  • Special events committee — plan and run our largest fundraisers

From our volunteers

I started coaching my son's t-ball team five years ago and never stopped. I know more kids in this town than I do in my own neighborhood now.

James R.
Youth coach, 5 years

Greenwood let me drive seniors to their doctor's appointments. It's a small thing but it means a lot to people who can't drive anymore. I get more out of it than they do.

Anita P.
Senior transport, 3 years

I volunteered at one festival to fulfill a school requirement, and three years later I'm on the events committee. Best decision I made in high school.
